The Spirit StompMan Single Channel 50-Watt Pedal Amp from Hughes & Kettner is a powerful and flexible, fully analog amplifier in a compact stompbox form factor. The StompMan features two footswitches, one of which is programmable to provide either bypass or serial FX loop selection, and six control knobs for nearly every desired amp function, including gain, resonance, tone, saturation, and more. The single-channel amplifier contains a Solo function that lets you boost your output power by up to 6 dB with the push of a button. It can drive speaker cabinets up to 4x12 in size up to full stacks. Spiritual Analog Tone
Distilling the Essence of Tube Physics
At the heart of the StompMan is Hughes & Kettner's award-winning Spirit Tone Generator technology, a fully analog circuit that captures the tone and feel of traditional tube amps. With this nifty tech in its engine room, StompMan delivers a wide range of sought-after clean and overdriven tones. When paired with outboard effects, it can also serve up every flavor of contemporary heavy sound. The all-analog tone generator is made in Germany and sealed in a protective housing to ensure long life.
Amp Sagging-Control
Drive a power amp hard enough and it will buckle like a weightlifter under a heavy load. This effect is called sagging and the dip in power supply voltage has a significant impact on tone and feel. As the amp has to work harder, more harmonics and compression are added to the signal. The Spirit Tone Generator lets you dial in power amp saturation in a manageable way. This allows the sagging knob to be a creative sound-shaping tool to rival any gain knob, and it works properly at any volume level.

Note:
With high Gain settings or in combination with upstream boosters, too much sagging can be counterproductive. The Sagging knob adds a creamy touch for soaring high-gain lead parts, but too much of it can result in muddy-sounding riffs and power chords. This is especially true with lower tuned or 7-string guitars, where it should be used sparingly
I/O to Rival Any Amp
Six Knobs, Endless Possibilities
Beside the powerful aforementioned sagging knob, the StompMan comes with five more knobs that provide a huge amount of control and creative potential. While a basic master volume control is included, a dedicated gain knob is also provided for boosting input sensitivity and thus the saturation level, making it easy to dial in the desired amount of distortion (if any) from the preamplifier circuit. The tone knob, on the other hand, functions differently from a typical tone control on a guitar, controlling not only the high frequencies but also fading between a British tone with strong mids (left position) to a scooped California tone (right position) with more bass and treble. Resonance lets you enhance the normal resonance created between the amp-cabinet combination, while presence controls the amount of generated harmonic overtones in the output stage. A final solo knob allows you to push the volume of the stompbox beyond the master level control, jumping up to between 0 and +6 dB relative to the master setting, and is activated via a dedicated footswitch for convenience during performance.
An I/O Hub for Your Pedalboard
The StompMan provides two types of inputs and two types of outputs, allowing the stompbox to comfortably sit at the center of your pedalboard setup. A basic Hi-Z instrument input takes your guitar signal in, while the FX Send/Line Out jack sends out a pure and unfiltered amp signal, including the saturation of the output stage, ideal for external effects or software-based speaker and microphone emulations. The FX return feeds the signal directly to the power amplifier, providing completely neutral amplification. This allows the StompMan to be used as a neutral power amp, perfect for modeling amps that already provide a signal, including the sound of the output stage, and producing an FX loop that is fully switchable for even more signal-chain possibilities. Finally, the Speaker send allows the final signal to be passed to any speaker with an impedance of 4 to 16 ohms, with a max power up to 50 watts. This provides enough power to drive a 1x12 cabinet, or a full-stack configuration is also possible if desired.
Note:
When connecting two speakers, the impedance of each speaker must be at least 8 ohms, as the total impedance is halved to 4 ohms when connected in parallel.
Flexible Bypass
The bypass footswitch is customizable thanks to a two-mode switch in the rear of the unit. When set to the bypass position, the StompMan will route the input directly to the power-amp section, eliminating the gain and tone controls but leaving the sagging, presence, and resonance controls active. This setting is ideal for amplification and sound refinement of upstream preamps or modelers. The input level can be further adjusted via a trim knob on the bottom of the panel. When set to the FX loop position, the serial FX loop is turned on, allowing for a highly customizable FX loop chain with gain and tone controls intact.
