PTZCam Switch N8 Overview

Full-Control Video Switcher
Designed for single-operator use, the Switch N8 8-Channel NDI HX2 Switcher and PTZ Controller from PTZCam provides full video production control, including PTZ moves, dual IP streaming, color correction, graphics overlays, audio input/output, and both recording and playback options for NDI HX2 PTZ cameras. This switcher/controller incorporates a 10.1" touchscreen interface, a PTZ joystick, a zoom rocker, and push-button controls.

Note: The Switch N8 is compatible only with NDI HX2 cameras, it does not support cameras using only the original NDI HX1 version.

Combo Controller/Switcher Unit for NDI HX2
  • Control and switch between up to eight NDI HX2 PTZ cameras or other devices.
  • Supports PTZ moves, focus, exposure, white balance, and preset position control.
Dual-Stream Output
  • Live H.264/H.265 streaming to two independent locations like YouTube and Facebook Live using separate encoding profiles.
10.1" Touchscreen
  • Monitor and switch your sources easily using the integrated 10.1" touchscreen.
  • Eliminates the need for an exterior display.

Our church bought one of these. As long as you are not trying to utilize the direct streaming feature, this console will work. Despite the manufacturer stating that the direct outbound RTMP streaming feature works, it in fact does not and the manufacturer readily admits that there is a problem. But they won't tell you that until after you've purchased the unit. Had it longer than 30 days? Sorry, but B&H will not provide support and will in fact defer you to the manufacturer who will in turn just shrug their shoulders and apologize but do nothing to return your money or take the unit back. I would pass on this until they get their issues resolved.

If the Camera you select has NDI NDI|HX2|HX3 the PTZCam Switch N8 8-Channel NDI|HX2|HX3 Switcher and PTZ Controller should support control of the camera. However, this has not been tested by PTZcam at this time. The Canon CR-N500 does have NDI support though.

Can a button be programmed to both change the input source (i.e. camera) and issue a preset with one press?

YoniI don't think that answers my question. I understand that I can press a button to change Program (or Preview) source. I also understand that I can press a button to issue a PTZ preset. Can I program a button to do both with a single press, and if so, which camera source does it affect?

By "selected on screen", do you mean the camera that is Program view or the camera that is in Preview view? Or something else?

Because the Datavideo PTC-140NDI SDI/HDMI/NDI PTZ Camera with 20x Optical Zoom does not have NDI|HX2 or NDI|HX3, the PTZCam Switch N8 8-Channel NDI|HX2|HX3 Switcher and PTZ Controller is not compatible.
