Solar Safe Filter Technology
EclipSmart solar products feature ISO-certified Solar Safe filter technology. These filters offer complete protection from harmful solar radiation-including IR and UV light-and also block 99.999% of visible light. Celestron Solar Safe filter technology is guaranteed safe for direct observation of the sun and has been independently tested by SAI Global Assurance Services.
Solar Safe products conform to and meet the transmission requirements of ISO12312-2, Filters for Direct Observation of the Sun; EN 1836:2005 + A1:2007 (E) for an E15 Filter for the Direct Observation of the Sun, and AS/NZS 1338.1:2012, Filters for Eye Protectors.

I really enjoy them looking at the sun; you can see the spots on the sun. Only thing is I also own the Celestron 10x42 and really no difference in size of view so if your upgrading, i would not but if its your 1st purchase then it would be ok

Excellent binoculars for the eclipse

These binoculars were terrific for the April 8 total eclipse. They offered a good balance between adequate magnification and the ability to hand hold them steady. They took observing to another level especially compared to eclipse glasses. Their field of view made it easy to acquire the sun and the magnification gave an excellent rendering of the event. Highly recommended!
