Flic Film Double-X 35mm Reviews

Classic B&W

As a long-time aficionado of Kodak Tri-X (and Plus-X, when it was available), I love the grainy, almost gritty character of these classic B&W films. Double-X is like having a (more or less) one-stop-slower version of Tri-X; everything I love about Kodak's ISO 400 emulsion is here as well. And unless and until Kodak starts offering Double-X in 135 format, I'm glad that Flic Film is making it available somewhat affordably!

Great Film. Do not rewind all the way.

This is the classic Eastman XX (5222) film, rolled into 36 exposure canisters. It is a beautiful film with a great tonal range, fine grain, and very good sharpness. The canister is difficult to open and the usual film retrieval methods do not work reliably, including the double sided-tape and the Matin Film Picker methods. Be careful and do not rewind the film completely.
