I purchased this to use as a Time Machine drive with my iMac. It matches the silver base of the Mac, was easy to set up, and looks great.

Does "out of the box " mean I do not have to do anything but plug and play .. with my Mac (iMac2019 and MacBook Pro2019). ?

The LaCie 5TB USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C Mobile Drive, B&H # LASTLP500040, is an HDD, not an SSD. LaCie does not have a 5TB external SSD available at the time of this message, but they do have a 4TB model, such as the LaCie 4TB Rugged USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C External SSD, B&H # LASTHR400080.
