The mic's omnidirectional polar pattern picks up sound from all directions around the capsule, making it easy to place on talent and allowing for natural head movement when shooting news and dialog or addressing an audience. In addition, the omnidirectional polar pattern is less susceptible to wind noise and vocal plosives (pops) than a directional microphone. The electret-condenser capsule can handle up to 135 dB of volume, providing plenty of headroom for loud dialog and passionate performances.

The omnidirectional pickup pattern is ideal for video applications because it offers flexible placement options and allows for head movement without affecting the sound. Polsen was helpful in sending me a replacement microphone, and I like the quality of sound from these mics their small size. But, they are delicate and I wouldn’t use them for anything with intense movement.

This is a solid lavalier mic that delivers clear, natural audio IMO. I recently started using it for video work, and I've been happy with the results. What I love most is how discreet this mic is. The tiny head makes it super easy to hide, which is perfect for shoots where you want to keep the mic minimized or out of sight. Whether it’s tucked into clothing or clipped to a shirt or tie, it stays out of the way but still captures top-notch sound. Another standout feature is the omnidirectional pickup pattern. This is such a lifesaver when it comes to recording dialog because the person wearing it can move around naturally, and you won’t lose any sound quality. Whether I’m shooting interviews, presentations, or live events, the audio always comes out smooth and consistent, with none of the annoying pops or off mic dips in levels you sometimes get with directional mics. The PL-5-MKII also plays well with a variety of equipment. I've been using it with my Sony ZV-E10, and it has worked flawlessly. But, as far as I've seen, it will work with anything with a standard 3.5mm audio input that provides power for the electret-condenser . As far as sound quality is concerned, I've been very impressed. IMO, this lav delivers crisp, clear audio that's a big step up from just using a camera's built-in mic. It seems to handle everything-- even at higher volumes, without distorting the sound. The build quality is also good, especially at this price point. Normally, the weakest point of a cable is at its attachment points, especially close to the connectors, like the 3.5mm plug. But this mic has a nice and strong support there, which should help a lot to prevent damage from natural usage. Also, the wire itself appears to be made of quality materials. It bends nice and freely but still feels strong. I also love that the tie clip swivels so that it is easy to adjust attaching the mic in different directions or sides of the shirt/tie. In conclusion, I'm impressed by this lav mic, the sound quality is impressive, and the build quality is very good, especially at this price point. It checks off pretty much every box I look for in an affordable lav mic. [I have received this item in exchange for my honest review]

Would this work for the Sennheiser Profile Wireless transmitters? (besides the locking/non-locking connector)

The Polsen PL-5-MKII Mini Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone with a 3.5mm TS connector will likely not work correctly with the Sennheiser Profile Wireless transmitters, even if the locking mechanism difference is ignored. In short, while the Polsen PL-5-MKII might physically fit into the Sennheiser Profile Wireless transmitter's jack (if it doesn't have the screw lock), it's not electronically compatible for reliable and high-quality audio recording due to the difference in connector type and wiring.
