Designed as the ultimate next-generation sound module for the MalletKAT systems, the gigKAT 2 from KAT is a 256-voice, multi-timbral tone module with a massive 4 GB internal library stuffed with over 13,090 samples of everything from vibraphones, marimbas, timpanis, chimes, crotales, xylophones, drum kits, and battery percussion, but also non-percussion sounds as well, such as guitars, basses, pianos, winds, synths, vocals, and much more. With such a wide array of sounds spread across 1000 programs and 37 complete drum kits, the only limitation is your creativity, and the gigKAT 2 is designed to be compact, lightweight, and easily connected to most modern audio equipment, making it an ideal tool for the working electronic percussionist or studio producer.
The gigKAT 2 sports plenty of I/O to handle any situation including stereo 1/4" line outputs, a 3.5mm stereo headphone output, MIDI 5-pin DIN input and output/thru, a 1/4" sustain pedal input, and a USB-A terminal for connecting to a USB host program or a keyboard controller, for which the gigKAT 2 can deliver up to 500mA of power. The gigKAT 2 can transmit data on up to 16 MIDI channels and also features direct control over main output volume and a built-in reverb effect.
