The NP-H50DX is a 14.4v, 3.8Ah NP-style Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery. Offering practical size, low-cost and high-performance characteristics, the NP-H50 is designed to fit just about any application. The NP-H50 offers a current NP-style NiCd user an inexpensive way to upgrade to a newer battery technology, since IDX's NiMH batteries can be used with exsisting NiCd battery chargers.
High-Grade Cells
Unlike conventional cells that are damaged by fast charging, IDX individually selects and balances each cell for optimum life and performance.
14.4 Volts
Professional camcorders operate on a 12-volt system. As per their design, a majority of camcorders will activate a low voltage warning or even cease to operate when they determine that the battery has fallen below 11-volts. Since a 12V battery must be discharged to 10V for a full discharge, the camera will always lose power before the battery is fully discharged. This can cause some serious problems during a shoot, since the battery will indicate that there is still plenty of potential power available, but the camera is about to shut down. Therefore, a camera operating on a 12V battery will always lose power before fully discharging the battery. Most equipment manufacturers suggest that a higher voltage battery should be used whenever possible.
Cell Protection
Your investment is protected externally by a tough ABS case and internally by a high temperature battery protection circuit (Auto Reset Temperature breaker type).
NIMH - Environmentally Safe
Nickel Metal Hydride cells are essentially an extension of the proven sealed Nickel-Cadmium (NiCd) cell technology with the substitution of a hydrogen absorbing negative electrode for the cadmium based electrode. This substitution increases cell capacity and eliminates the toxicity concerns that cadmium based cells produce.
Delta-V Chargers
The NP-H50 is equipped with IDX's proprietary SF technology a superior charging algorithm, allowing it to be charged on existing Negative Delta-V style chargers like the Sony BC1-WD, or any IDX NiCd battery charger.
