Peavey Aureus 28 Reviews

A Good but Underwhelming Board

By Brad
Rated 3 out of 5
Date: 2024-09-24

I've had this board for about 2 months now. There are a lot of things I like about it and a few things that would have made me not purchase it if I would have realized prior to ordering. The Good: -Great user interface: extremely easy to use if you have experience with other digital boards -Built in Wifi with different permissions assignable to multiple users -HTML based wireless access (no app needed) -Touch screen is pretty responsive -There are more things but it starts to get too specific to list here The Bad: -No live spectrograph in EQ section -You can only record a stereo mix to your DAW (no multi track recording) -The wifi was unusable the first time I tried to use it in a live public setting. It was indoors with lots of people on phones and many businesses with WiFi hotspots. It only work to about 6 or 8 feet away and even then would often drop the connection for several seconds at a time. I cycled through all the available frequencies but nothing worked. It was particularly frustrating early on because it looked like it was working on the tablet but actually wasn't updating on the board. I initial thought the issue was with other equipment but eventually figured it out. It was extremely stressful with a start-time quickly approaching. I had tried it out at home and it worked up to at least 50 meet but was unusable when it counted. -Only 4 DCAs even though there are 8 sliders (half the screen is blank) Annoyance: -When you edit a track name you always need to re-type the entire thing, you can't even just add on or delete from the end I'm already considering selling it used and getting the Yamaha DM3 instead. Such a bummer, I really wanted to like this board!
