Elinchrom continues its development of battery-powered flash heads with the introduction of the FIVE Monolight. The 522Ws FIVE recycles in 1.6 seconds at full power and has a removal lithium-ion battery that will give you 450 flashes at full power and an impressive 14,600 flashes at minimum power, while it charges to 80% in 70 minutes and 100% in 95 minutes. The head's 26W bi-color LED modeling light puts negligible strain on the battery and even has a CRI of 91 to 94.

does the bracket/base accept umbrellas? (I don't see one in the photos) if so-- is it 7mm or 8mm?
This will support both 7mm and 8mm shafts. Generally Elinchrom puts one in the center of the light to accept a 7mm rod. And near the base where it connects to a stand a port that accepts 8mm.

How does this compare to Profoto B10X and B10X Plus?
One very important thing to consider is that the Elinchrom Five has an exposed bulb as were the Profoto monolight bulbs are recessed. In my opinion an exposed bulb is better at filling modifiers more completely thus more preferable.

Does the Elinchrom 5 accept pocket wizards or is it only triggered by the wireless sky port ?
The Elinchrom FIVE 2-Monolight Dual Kit BH #EL209612 has a 3.5mm sync port and can be used with Pocketwizards. However when using the 3.5mm sync port you will only get a manual sync. TTL and HSS require the use of a Skyport transmitter.
