MSI Z790 TOMAHAWK WIFI Overview

Bring easy connectivity to your system with the MAG Z790 TOMAHAWK WIFI LGA 1700 ATX Motherboard from MSI. Utilizing the Intel Z790 chipset and LGA 1700 socket, this ATX motherboard sports four DDR5 RAM slots supporting dual channel memory and speeds up to 7200 MHz when overclocked. Seven SATA III and four M.2 interfaces provide ample room for storage and support RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10. Install GPUs or other adapter cards via PCIe 5.0 x16, PCIe 4.0 x16, and PCIe 3.0 x1 slots. Take advantage of fast networking with a 2.5 GbE Intel LAN and Wi-Fi 6E; connect to wireless peripherals with ease using Bluetooth 5.2.

The Realtek ALC4080 audio codec supports 7.1 channel surround sound, while rear ports allow for analog or digital output. Connect wired peripherals via four USB 3.2 Gen 1 and four Gen 2 Type-A ports, or via USB 3.2 Gen 2 and 2x2 Type-C ports. Output video via DisplayPort and HDMI. The rear I/O panel also sports Clear CMOS and Flash BIOS buttons. Internal headers provide support for front-panel USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C and USB 3.2 Gen 1 and 2.0 Type-A ports, RGB connectors, chassis intrusion, a TPM module, and more.

Unstable bios. MSI center/apps are buggy and slow. Never had a board that needed a clear cmos button more than this one. It's by far the best feature on this board. PCIE latch snapped off during normal use while swapping out a GPU. Totally ridiculous. I pushed it down with my finger and it broke right off. Absolute garbage overpriced board from MSI. Steering clear from MSI products indefinitely after this.

Great motherboard

It's a great motherboard. I like the aesthetic (nicer than my previous X570 Tomahawk aside from not having any RGB lighting). The one disappointment I have is that it only has one header for my front USB4 ports, so you would need a splitter if you need more. Fast, easy tips for undervolting a 14900K build: set a -.125v voltage offset, set LLC4 (it's buried in a menu called DigitALL Power Settings) disable enhanced turbo. If it's not stable, try -0.1v, -.085v, -.075v.
