Vienna Symphonic Library World Winds Overview

Ancient Souls
The Synchron World Winds from Vienna Symphonic Library is a massive virtual instrument library packing over 60GB of highly realistic dynamic samples derived from nine diverse ethnic instruments stretching from the UK to Japan. From the lyrical, high-pitched tin whistles to the emotive breathiness of the Japanese shakuhachi, and everything in between, this library provides a wide breadth of unique solo instruments and versatile playing techniques that will enhance any composition or production.

This library was created using seven microphone positions with numerous preconfigured mixer presets, and supports stereo, 5.1 surround, Dolby Atmos, and 9.1 AURO-3D mixing. The Synchron World Winds library includes numerous distinct articulations, all fully playable from the free included Venna Synchron Player program, and is available in Audio Unit, VST, AAX Native, and standalone formats for macOS and Windows computers.

Note:
This license upgrades any Synchron World Winds standard library to a full library, increasing samples from 112,100 to 179,360, and adding AURO-3D mixing, in a 64GB library.
Nine Instruments from Around the World
From the soft and gentle tones of the Chinese hulusi to the penetrating, loud sounds of the Turkish zurna, from the low and alluring breathiness of the bass duduk to the high pitched tin whistles, this intriguing Collection offers a wide range of evocative sounds from exquisite wind instruments, played by acclaimed flutist and folk instrument artist, Veronika Vitazkova.

Played by a Professional
All instruments in the Synchron World Winds library were played by multi-instrumentalist, folk instruments expert, and member of the Synchron Stage Orchestra, Veronika Vitazkova. She played in many orchestras, among them the Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, and Tonkünstler Orchestra, toured Europe as a solo flutist with the late Ennio Morricone, and played at esteemed festivals from Salzburger Festspiele to Hollywood in Vienna.

Having performed on countless film scores at Synchron Stage Vienna, Veronika feels very much at home on the large Stage A and marvels at the exceptional acoustics of this scoring stage that contribute substantially to the overall sound of each instrument.

Articulations and Techniques
All instruments feature a wide variety of playing techniques, including short notes, long notes, legatos, portamentos, trills, flutter tongue, repetitions, glissandos, bends, grace notes, ornaments, and much more. All versions of Synchron World Winds include the same number of articulations, differing only in the number of included microphone positions. And all the instruments are presented in the program chromatically, to make compositions and playback easier. Note that not everything you write and play on the keyboard may be possible to perform for a musician, due to the nonchromatic nature of most World Winds instruments.
Every Nuance Captured
To capture the spectacular ambience of Synchron Stage A, VSL's engineers employed seven separate phase-coherent microphone configurations to provide a broad range of room options. All of them are available as separate channels in the mixer section of the Vienna Synchron Player that lets you create the sound according to your needs and liking.

Pre-configured mixer presets provide a wide variety of tonal characteristics, from close to ambient, from lush to sparkling, from natural to heavily processed. As with all Synchron Libraries, you can mix your woodwinds sound in stereo, 5.1 surround or even Dolby Atmos and 9.1 AURO-3D, or any other immersive audio format.

Immersive Sound with Dolby Atmos and AURO-3D
AURO-3D is an immersive audio technology that allows for three-dimensional sound perception. The Belgian company Auro Technologies developed this technology based on a special speaker configuration, adding four additional speakers to a 5.1 surround configuration. These speakers (so-called Heights) are situated above the front and surround speakers and generate acoustic reflections that are perceived naturally due to the fact that sounds originate from around as well as from above the listener.

Thanks to the comprehensive selection of discrete audio channels of Synchron Woodwinds Full Library you may mix your instruments in AURO-3D as well as in Dolby Atmos.

Recorded at Synchron Stage Vienna
Since its opening in 2015, many international composers and film studio executives were amazed by the outstanding features and possibilities of VSL's Synchron Stage. Hans Zimmer’s Remote Control Productions recorded a whole slate of productions, including music for the feature film Inferno and the Golden Globe-winning Netflix series The Crown. Harry Gregson-Williams recorded his score for The Meg at Synchron Stage Vienna, Lorne Balfe Ad Astra, and BBC’s Blue Planet II.

What’s more, many orchestral productions for major Chinese, Japanese, and South Korean blockbusters were recorded at Synchron Stage. The Wiener Symphoniker and the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra are among those who recently recorded projects here.
