7Artisans Vision Cinema 12mm T2.9 Overview

Sharp, compact, and robust, the 12mm T2.9 Vision Cine Lens from 7artisans works with standard cine lens accessories, so it will easily fit into your workflow. This ultra-wide version of the lens comes in a Canon RF mount, and it features focus scales marked in feet and meters. The maximum T2.9 aperture allows you to film a gentle soft bokeh with soft natural-looking out-of-focus highlights, while the T16 minimum aperture helps reduce artifacts that can appear when the aperture opening is too small.

The 270° focus throw allows you to make extremely accurate focus pulls, and the lens features cine-standard 0.8 MOD lens gears for focus and iris. As part of the vision series, this 12mm lens shares the same focus and iris gear positions as the Vision 25, 35, and 50mm lenses, making swapping lenses fast, as you don't have to reposition the follow focus unit or lens motor you may be using. It features an 89mm front diameter and an 82mm filter thread that allows you to mount optional filters directly on the front of the lens.

Note:
Please note that this lens is designed only for use with mirrorless cameras and should not be used with SLRs or DSLRs.
Wide-Angle Addition to Vision Series
This 12mm member of the Vision series enables you to add ultra-wide views to your cine-style video capture. Each lens in the highly versatile series is available in Canon RF, Sony E, FUJIFILM X, Leica L, and MFT mounts.
ED Glass Elements
ED (extra-low dispersion) glass elements and an all-metal shell provide a pleasing image and a durable lens.
Common Design Features
Lenses in the 7artisans Vision cine lens series share common focus and iris gear ring positions, which speeds up lens changes as accessories such as follow focus units or iris motors don't have to be repositioned.
Focus Marks
Focus markings and measurements are provided in both feet and meters.
Clickless Aperture
The iris ring has no click stops, allowing you to make smooth iris pulls.
Close Focusing
A minimum focusing distance of about 5.5" allows you to get up close to your subject.

So far this lens has been great, sharp image and pretty fast lens. Manual focus feels nice. I've really enjoyed using it.

Excellent metal build quality on this lens. Use this on my Red Komodo and it does vignette a little in the corners when shooting at 6K, but it is acceptable. Aperture and focus rings move smoothly, although a little stiff at the moment but this should probably loosen up a bit. Definitely better than being too loose! Picture quality is excellent. Great for video. Would definitely recommend this lens for APSC and super 35 sensors, and even the Komodo sensor which is a little wider than super 35.
