Great last minute purchase

I was going to a convention in January and I decided last minute that I wanted to vlog my experience. I didn’t want to free hand it so I remembered how my friend had a really cool Zhiyun gimbal for his phone that took very smooth and professional shots. So I bought this one last minute and it is such a super professional feeling gimbal (I even got a compliment on it by one of the attendees). Smooth shots and very stable always, very easy to use as well. I also loved the case that came with the combo pack, it made it so much easier when it came to packing it in my suitcase (although make sure to take it out of the suitcase because it IS considered a large electronic through TSA. Found out the hard way). It did make me a bit disappointed that you had to download certain camera apps to be able to get the most out of the product and you couldn’t just connect it to your phones Bluetooth and use it in the native camera but I didn’t mind it too much (would definitely recommend StaCam over ZY Cami, ZY is more of a Chinese social media app with the ability to film using the gimbal and StaCam is solely just for recording videos with professional grade tools such as being able to adjust ISO, white balance, rack focus, etc. Also StaCam doesn’t require you to make an account to JUST USE THE CAMERA!) Overall, great purchase and a very cool product! Can’t wait to record at more conventions and on trips! 😎

Don't plan to use with a phone in a case

Generally this is a good gimbal setup with one big caveat: it only holds a phone that is 3.5 inches wide by 0.4 inch thick. That means you cannot use a phone that uses a protective case, since most of them make the phone more than 0.4 inch thick. I suspect this has to do with balancing the gimbal, but it really seems to be a big oversight since most people use a protective cover with their phones.

How would I shoot horizontal with an iphone 13 that has a wireless lav mic receiver that plugs in to the Lightening port?

The balance arm is long enough the balance the phone with a lightning jack plugged in. After a while I bought and 90 degree lightning adapter to plug in my external mic.
