Ewa-Marine CD5 Overview

This 5-pack of Ewa-Marine CD-5 Reusable Camera Dry Silica Gel Desiccant will help prevent condensation from forming inside a housing. Condensation will form in a housing when you take it from warm air to cooler water. Internal camera flashes being fired inside the housing will compound this problem.

Since the silica needs some time to act, give it about 10-15 minutes after closing the housing before entering the water. The CD5 is blue in color. Once saturated with moisture, it turns red. CD5 can then be reactivated by drying in the sun or in an oven. This process can be repeated up to five times.

I place these packets in the archive boxes which store my images and negatives. It keeps all the moisture out and the good dry air surrounds my work.

Advantage of having silica gel packs that change colors when they no longer can absorb moisture is very important, so you know when to change packets. You can also reuse after drying them out in the oven.

These silica packs are good to have on hand. They're used to prevent any condensation from forming inside of the EWA housings where your valuable camera is, so I'd rather not take any chances when it comes to moisture around my electronics. It's nice that they're rechargeable, too.

I use my camera equipment in all weather. I keep these packs in my case at all times. It keeps my equipment from getting damp inside and quickly absorbs any dampness that may cause any equipment damage.

The CD5 is suppose to be blue in color and once saturated with moisture, it turns red. But when I received mine, all the 5 Pack was white in color. Does it means that it cannot be reused? Disappointed with the product. Will not buy again.

Standard small-size silica gel packets you can buy anywhere for a lot less. I bought them thinking for the price they were larger packets, but I thought wrong.

Ewa-Marine CD5 Camera Dry Reusable Desiccant Silca Packs are too large to fit in the Brno dri+ caps for Nikon bodies and for Nikon lenses. The attached Fantasea Line Silica Gel Packs will fit.
