OK, first we have to get the fact that this is a piece of plastic and it cost $50 out of the way. Yes, someone should be making this for $25. But the point is, you've probably spent over $1200 on your Octatrack, and it's insane to just throw it in a bag and risk damaging the fader or any of the knobs. This is infinitely better than a piece of padding. Also, it looks great on my desk, and I don't have to worry about cat fur or dust or oil settling into the fader bank, which is open, and will degrade over time, if not covered
