Nanlite PavoTube II 15C Overview

Nanlite expands their LED tube light line with the second-generation PavoTube II 15C 4-Light Kit, featuring four versatile 2' fixtures with power supplies and mounting accessories. At over 423 lux at 3.3' (5600K) for each light, the PavoTube II 15C delivers exceptional color accuracy with a wider color temperature range from 2700 to 7500K, as shown by its CRI and TLCI scores of 97 and 98. These tube lights are ideal for filmmakers and content creators setting up lighting in the studio or on location. With 0 to 100% dimming and 15 preprogrammed special lighting effects, they can be used as key, fill, backlights, or for in-camera practical effects.

Multiple improvements include faster recharging via included AC adapters or a USB-C port on the back of each fixture, seamless diffusion, green-magenta shift by +/- 150, Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz for wireless control, DMX/RDM capability, and smaller endcaps to minimize distractions on your frame. The PavoTube II 15C has a built-in rechargeable battery that will give you up to 2 hours of battery life at 100% brightness. The light also offers universal power capability via included multi-voltage AC adapters or runs on optional external batteries. T12 compatible with a 1.9" diameter, this kit comes with four clips equipped with 1/4"-20 mounts, eight steel safety wires for hanging, and a padded carry bag for storage and transport.

Seamless Light
Developed for larger illumination areas, the PavoTube II 15C's improved internal diffusion obscures the individual LED diodes to create a seamless light source that looks compelling in-frame as well as smoother on reflective surfaces when applied out-of-frame.
Accurate Color
The PavoTube II 15C features a CRI of 97 and a TLCI of 98, meaning you can shoot with confidence knowing the color reproduction will be precise. For a more detailed perspective on color rendering, it also has TM-30 scores of RF 94 and RG 101. No matter how bright or dimmed, the light you see will remain accurate across any CCT. Besides color accuracy, the light is equipped with 15 preprogrammed customizable effects that can be saved as presets using the free NANLINK app.
Green-Magenta Adjustment
In shooting situations where you need to match other light sources or achieve a specific look, it can be extremely helpful to adjust the green-to-magenta shift for color correction. With this PavoTube II 15C's feature you can tweak the color by +/- 150 to get there.
AC Power & Battery Advancements
The light's built-in battery recharges 1 hour and 10 minutes faster than previous generations. You can charge it using the USB-C port on the back of the fixture or connecting the included AC adapters to the PavoTube II 15C's endcap for continuous power. It also gives you the possibility of using D-tap batteries with the separately available CB-DT/DC cable.

Onboard, DMX & App Control
The PavoTube II 15C features a convenient OLED display and two onboard buttons and knobs for precise and easy local control, but the light can also be controlled remotely.
  • You can fully control the light from your smartphone via Bluetooth with the free NANLINK app for iOS and Android
  • Built-in 2.4 GHz lets you use the separately available WS-RC-C2 handheld remote or the WS-TB-1 transmitter box for larger setups
  • Locking DMX/RDM ports facilitate advanced control and enables the PavoTube II 15C to be quickly adopted into any DMX controlled environment using the separately available CB-DMX-3.5C-1/2 adapter cable
Portable & Lightweight
Versatile and portable, the PavoTube II 15C is bright enough for multiple applications and compact enough for tight spaces or even to hide behind objects without getting to the frame. Each 2' long tube light weighs only 1.9 lb, which makes it a portable lighting solution.

I saw these lights being used by a fellow photographer and thought they would make a great lighting setup for a portable portrait setup. When I set them up in my studio, I found that they were not as bright as I had thought, initially. I will probably need a few more to really fill in the background shadows the way I had anticipated.

Does this have a 'studio mode'? I need the light to turn on and off by connecting or disconnecting wall power.

The Nanlite PavoTube II 15C RGB LED Tube Light (2', 2-Light Kit) does not have a studio mode. Because it has a built-in battery, unplugging the AC cord will not turn the light off; you would need to use the power switch on the fixture itself.

What's the difference between PavoTube I 15C vs these one (PavoTube II 15C)?

Nanlite PavoTube II 15C RGB LED Tube Light (2') has 2700 to 7500K color temperature and the version one is 2700-6500K. Version two has a 3 hour charge time and version one is 4 hour charge. And version two has a metal housing and is wi-fi and blue tooth.

The difference between the Nanlite PavoTube II 15C RGB LED Tube Light (2', 2-Light Kit) and the Nanlite PavoTube II 30C RGB LED Tube Light is the size. Another key difference is the output. The Nanlite PavoTube II 30C RGB LED Tube Light is a 55 watt power consumption, as the Nanlite PavoTube II 15C RGB LED Tube Light is only a 30 watt power consumption.

Is this RGB or RGBWW? The answer seems obvious based on the name, but retailers in Europe sell this as RGBWW.

The Nanlite PavoTube II 15C RGB LED Tube Light (2', 2-Light Kit) comes with two of this product: the Nanlite PavoTube Transparent Polycarbonate Clip with Two 1/4"-20 Receivers; they allow the light to be attached to a stand with a 1/4" male thread.
