I bought this because it was a good deal. I tried with two different soft box rods and the holes are too small. Sending back.

Using this to mount a Phottix 36x48 inch softbox. The rod mounting holes are actually 5/16 inch wide and fit 1/4 inch rods just fine, so I did not have to drill the holes out as someone else suggested. The holes did have a rather rough bevel around them, but did not affect performance. The Bowens mount fit my Godox and Flashpoint lights just fine also, and rotates without issues. I would recommend this speed ring.
