The 4-band EQ can be split between long and short faders for the ultimate sound shaping control, and the VCA mix bus compressor with bass expander allows you to add that often sought-after glue that makes your mixes sound like the real deal. Loads of output options are provided, including five pairs of monitor outputs (main, three alt, and studio loudspeaker), two stereo foldback outputs, and 12 mono aux sends (plus two cue sends). World Class Mic Pres
Audient is the only company that uses the same Class-A mic-pre design throughout their entire product range, whether you're in the studio with the ASP8024-HE or on the road with iD14, you're always guaranteed the same world-class Audient sound. Designed by David Dearden (of DDA & Advision Studios) back in 1997, the 72 Audient mic pres are of an all discrete, high grade op-amp design that delivers low noise, low distortion, and high common mode rejection at all gain level, offering a faithful reproduction of the source with just enough color to give the signal some character.
A Mix Bus with Character
By utilizing an American-style output amplifier, classic through-hole components, and a British output transformer, Audient brings you RETRO IRON, a variable output mix bus with low bump and high lift EQ. Based upon two consoles from David's first job in 1967 at the now legendary Advision Studios in London, RETRO IRON adds punch and vibe to the consoles mix output. So whether you're simply tracking, summing a few inputs, or crafting a fully blown console mix, RETRO IRON offers you that unique analog console sound with a little bit of extra character that will put the final touch on any mix.
Divisible Four-Band EQ
The incredibly flexible, Dearden-designed EQ offers two fully parametric bands that span from 40 Hz to 20 kHz, providing a powerful and punchy sound. These are flanked by low and high shelving EQ bands (with a minimal signal path) that are perfect for adding weight and air to your source, and when combined with the parametric EQ, make for the ultimate sculpting tool. You can really take advantage of the EQ as it can be split across both the short and long faders, making Audient one of the only companies to offer this unique feature.
The Mix Bus Compressor
Based on technology from the '80s and '90s, the ASP8024's mix-bus compressor is known for adding a rock and roll dynamic to your mix. Often likened to classic analog boards, the ASP8024's mix bus compressor provides that classic VCA glue that will give your mix that sounds-like-a-record feeling. With improved circuitry and a slick new gain-reduction VU meter for improved visual feedback (for those familiar with the gentle needle bounce glue trick), it will fast become one of the most useful tools in your arsenal.
It doesn’t stop there. Introducing Bass Expand, a brand new high-pass filter in the compressors side-chain. Bass Expand will tighten up your mixes and add punch without destroying your low end, making it an ideal tool for bass heavy productions.
