I do not yet own this tripod, but I am familiar with it from friends that do own it. The previous reviewer suggested other tripods. However, if you want to use it with an iOptron StrainWave mount (which you probably do if you are looking at this tripod) you probably are also using an iOptron leveling pier with leveling screws. (Leveling is important for proper GOTO) And other tripods are not compatible with the iOptron pier because they do not have the pads for the leveling screws. FYI

I was looking for a light weight alternative to my aluminum pier from William Optics. This unit is desigend for my Ioptron mount. I received it and found the build quality is adegquate and it functions acceptably. I do recomend a center balanced weight (sandbag) to make the unit more stable and reduce parasitic vibrations. Yes, you can do better than this tripod, depending on how much you want to spend.
