The hood also provides additional protection to the lens from accidental impacts, bumps, or scratching. It also incorporated a locking mechanism to prevent unwanted removable or detachment.

I Purchased This Lens Hood To Replace My LH-76 Hood (the One That's Collapsible) Because The Collapsible One Broke. Again. I've Had Two Of Them. Both Eventually Fell Apart And Became Unusable. While I Loved The Ability To Collapse The Hood While Traveling, I Got Sick And Tired Of Fixing The Thing. It Repeatedly Came Apart And It Takes About 15 Minutes Of Fiddling To Get It Back Together Again If It's Not Completely Broken. This One, The LH-76D, Is A Straightforward, Fixed Lens Hood. No Complaints. I Will Miss The Ability To Collapse The Hood And Get It Out Of The Way, But I Won't Miss Fooling With The Old One.
I got this to replace the neat slidey hood that comes with the 40-150. It does work, same diameter and lock system, but it's fairly loose on the lens. I put blue tape on the hood, tiny pieces on the ends of the lock spots to tighten it and now it works perfectly.
