    Epson L260F Reviews

    Nice Bright Projector

    By Joshua
    Rated 5 out of 5

After a little initial skepticism, I have decided I like this projector. I have it mounted on the ceiling and use it mostly to watch movies and display photographs. It's bright! Even on the lower-intensity setting it's brighter than my old projector. Movies look great, photographs look almost as good as they do on a computer monitor. The image looks good even with some ambient lighting. I like that it doesn't really have to warm up to get bright. The fan is quieter than my older Epson, though on full power I would not describe it as quiet. Quiet mode is nice and quiet, but less bright. The quality of the light is slightly different than my older Epson bulb projector, having a less solid quality about it in certain circumstances. I assume it's because the light is produced by a laser rather than a bulb. It put me off at first, but I quickly got used to it. I agree with the other reviewer that the focus ring is imprecise, which makes it seem fiddly and hard to get into perfect focus. If you are always on the move and having to refocus this might be a mild annoyance for you. The keystone and image correction capabilities are great. I was able to make minor tweaks to the edges and corners to fit my screen area almost exactly.

    Great Projector

I purchased the Epson PowerLite L260f (also known as the EB-L260f) to do one thing, show digital photographs at photo club meetings. The L260 has a myriad of capabilities that I do not use and cannot comment on. The projector is extremely easy to use. It was out of the box and showing images in less than 10 minutes. And, the images were very impressive. I did have to do some tweaking to make the images closer to what is seen on a computer screen. The projector is shipped with the Presentation mode turned on (presumably for PowerPoint) and at 100% lamp power. I changed to the sRGB mode and turn the lamp down to 45% power. With those few changes the the images were crisp, clear, colors were true, the blacks were deep and the gray tones were accurate. There are numerous other image adjustments, but I found these unnecessary.   Lamp adjustment depends on the distance from the projector to the screen and how dark the room is. In a dark room, with the projector about 10’ from a 4 x 6’ screen, a lamp brightness of 40 - 50% was adequate and keeps the highlights from being blown out. The lamp is powerful enough to easily project in a partially lite room and project 20 - 30’ to a big screen. Overall I am pleased with the image quality of projector. At 9.5 lbs. and relatively compact it is even somewhat portable or, at least, luggable.   I do have one quibble with the projector, focusing. Focusing is done with a plastic stalk attached directly to the lens. It is too sensitive to easily focus the image. A focusing knob that is less sensitive would have been a much better choice.   I would like to give the projector a rating of 4.5, but that isn’t possible. However, the ease of use and image quality tipped the rating to a 5.
