Nikon Abandoned Integrity

I purchased a backup battery the same time I purchased my Z9 in 2023. It worked flawlessly and tremendously. With the nost recent update I removed the Watson battery and charged it in the charger with no issue. When I replaced it in the Z9, however it claimed it could not draw data from the battery that was successfully doing so for over two years. This was absolutely the result of Nikon locking out third batteries the way HP locked out third party inks in their printers. I've been with Nikon for over a decade because of their integrity towards photographers and not treating their customers like a personal piggy bank ala Apple or Adobe. Clearly Nikon is pivoting, and my days as a Nikon shooter are coming to a close. Long story short their forcing people to use their overpriced batteries that underperform third party ones. Don't buy this perfectly made and performing battery. Nikon has locked out all third party batteries through the firmware update.

What are the advantages of using this battery instead of using a Nikon EN-EL15c Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery in a D810 grip?

The Watson EN-EL18d Battery & Nikon Chamber Cover Kit for MB-D12 Battery Pack is 10.8V 3500mAh and the Nikon EN-EL15c is 7V, 2280mAh. So it can increase the fps of the camera and it can last longer. Note this battery can only be used in specific battery grips, MB-D12 (D810A, D810, D800E, D800) MB-D17 (D500) MB-D18 (D850)

No, Watson EN-EL18d Lithium-Ion Battery Pack (10.8V, 3500mAh) is not compatible with the Nikon MB-N11 Power Battery Pack with Vertical Grip. You can use the Nikon EN-EL15c Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery BH #NIENEL15C • MFR #27213 with the battery pack.
