Elgato HD60 X Overview

Card features include Flashback Recording, a 3.5mm input for audio commentary, the ability to stream to any platform, and a VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) that eliminates lag and screen tearing. Compatible with MacOS and Windows, the HD60 X Capture Card can record PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC video, and other HDMI sources.

I am having an issue that is seeming pretty common with this specific capture card. It worked just fine for about a month or two, but after some time it just goes black. I have a MacBook and use OBS studio to record my videos, and no matter what I do it always gives me a black screen (or something along the lines of no device detected), it is not a software issue through OBS. I have tried all of the possible "fixes" and none seem to work. This is very problematic and many people tend to have the same problem as I do, was impressed at first, but now it's just useless.

can it capture 1080 60p, home movies from hdmi output of samsung dvd recorder? camcord video saved on dvd, outputs upscaled hdmi

If your Samsung DVD recorder outputs an unencrypted HDMI signal, HD60 X can capture it at 1080p60 without any issues—even if the original video was recorded to DVD and then upscaled. However, many DVD players (especially upscaling models) output HDCP-protected HDMI, which HD60 X cannot capture. If HDCP is enabled, you’ll see a black screen or no signal. We recommend checking your DVD recorder’s specs or settings to confirm whether it adds HDCP to its HDMI output. -James

Can this be used to interface between a 4k.30p video feed from a camera and OBS running on a laptop?

Yes, the Elgato HD60 X Game Capture Card can accept a 4k 30p signal. It can also capture it to OBS.

What is the power supply voltage from the block? i'm sure it plugs into 120AC, but does this run on 12V DC?

The Elgato HD60 X Game Capture Card is powered via USB-C. Connecting to most standard USB ports on a computer would power it. You could also work with USB-A power adapters. The Elgato HD60 X Game Capture Card comes with one USB-C to USB-A cable.
