Mackie DLZ Creator Overview

Designed for content creators, the Mackie DLZ Creator is an adaptive digital mixer for podcasting and streaming that's designed for users of all experience levels to quickly get professional results for podcasts, YouTube videos, live streams, and more. The mixer features Mix Agent technology, Onyx80 microphone preamps, and a 10.1" touchscreen that tailors the controls based on your choice of modes (Easy, Enhanced, or Pro).

Mix Agent is a virtual audio assistant that guides you through setup and automates functions for an efficient, user-friendly experience. AutoMix manages levels for up to four microphones, so you and your guests can be heard, even when everyone speaks at the same time. You can also integrate a phone call into your mix via Bluetooth and activate Mix Minus with one tap, so the caller won't hear their voice echo when they speak. More than a podcast mixer or audio interface, the DLZ Creator can record or stream multitrack audio to a computer via USB-C or straight to an SD card for a truly self-contained setup.

Firmware Update v1.1
  • Adds full NDI integration for fast and powerful bi-directional audio and video workflows across Ethernet networks. The the NDI standard enables broadcast-quality, low-latency, and frame accurate audio and video communication between multiple machines in real time on a simple, secure, and dependable IP network. The NDI standard is also increasingly relevant in streaming and Cloud Mixing, allowing for direct connection into music creation software and connection to outside networks. With support from Twitch and OBS, the NDI protocol has also been embraced by online gamers, live streamers, and podcast professionals.
  • Adds multi-language options for the DLZ Creator touchscreen interface, including German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, and Korean.

Mackie DLZ Creator Reviews

Lack of midi or remote controllability is biggest negative

Overall, the Mackie DLZ Creator is my favorite podcasting mixer. I prefer this way over the Rodecaster Pro II for the easier menu navigation and the near latency free signal flow (where the Rodecaster fails miserably). My biggest disappointment with this is the lack of any sort of remote controllability, be it with midi, OSC, external software, etc. What a shame. It keeps me from being able to create macros and automations that would better integrate it into my larger setup. If it had any way at all to start/stop recording from my computer, this would be a game changer (I can do this on my Rodecaster Pro II via midi so why not on the DLZ?). Only other true negative for me is that that this thing seems needlessly huge. I'd gladly sacrifice slider travel and button size for a smaller footprint that more easily fit into a small studio or control room. Overall, I love the number of inputs and outputs and relative ease of use.

Lov it... Works w/@ll mics

Asked by: Eric
Technically yes, you can use one of the Mackie DLZ Creator's stereo headphone outputs as a line output, but headphone and line outputs aren't identical and the difference in impedance may cause results to vary compared to a normal line output.
