Developed for professional applications in the fields of studio recording, stage performance, TV/broadcast, and live event, the Palmer wipper is a single-channel DI box used to preserve audio quality when connecting the unbalanced output of an instrument to the balanced input of a mixing desk or PA. Featuring a passive design that requires no battery or phantom power, the wipper is particularly well suited for active instruments, often recognizable in that they have a battery compartment (such as active electric/acoustic guitars, electric guitars, and electric basses) or are mains-powered (such as a keyboard). It can also be used to connect speaker outputs from guitar amplifiers to balanced mixer inputs or audio interfaces.

Palmer wipper Overview

With its high-quality transformer, the wipper can handle high levels without distorting or losing the original sound of your instrument. At the same time, galvanic isolation prevents ground-loop hum, so that the signal remains pure, clear and ultralow noise, without any interference—even when transmitted over long cable runs. Thanks to a switchable 30 dB pre-attenuation, the wipper can also be looped in between the amplifier output and the loudspeaker. The unit is virtually indestructible thanks to its rugged, aluminum and steel casing.

Let Your signals Flow Naturally
  • Balancing and impedance matching for active guitar, bass, keyboards, and synthesizers
  • Eliminates ground-loop hum thanks to galvanic transformer isolation
  • XLR-M balanced output
  • 1/4" TS unbalanced instrument input jack
  • 1/4" TS unbalanced THRU-output for passing the input signal to the amplifier
  • THRU-output jack can also be used as second input to sum two input signals
  • Extremely fail-safe, no power supply required
  • Pure and unaltered low-noise audio
  • Handles high-level inputs without distortion
  • Switchable 30 dB pad for extremely high input levels (e.g. amplifier output)
  • Solid casing made of aluminum and steel
  • Includes rewritable tour label for attachment onto the back of the wipper
  • River-Series DI engineered in Germany with high-precision circuits
