Packing all of the clangy, atonal chaos of the original, but with a few new tricks, the Gonkulator Ring Modulator from DOD is a potent and surprisingly versatile guitar pedal with two effects in one box. With a newly adjustable carrier signal, you can go from slightly skewed modulation to wild, clamorous explosions with ease, and the powerful new distortion circuit allows you to further mangle your tones for enhanced creative potential.
The DOD Gonkulator features 1/4" TS Hi-Z input and output jacks, a typical metal footswitch, and a crisp blue LED power indicator. The new lightweight aluminum chassis is durable without being bulky, and the pedal supports power from either a 9V battery or a 9 VDC power supply such as the Digitech PS0913DC.
Ring Modulator + Distortion for Endless Fun
The Gonkulator is more than just a simple ring modulator, it is really two effects in one. While you can get a whole range of modulation tones from the ring modulator circuit, this pedal is also equipped with an aggressive distortion circuit. Mix and match the effects for a plethora of possibilities, especially when combined with further pedals in your signal chain.
Based on a Classic
Based on the infamous '90s Gonkulator circuit design, but with updated components, this pedal is powerful, easy to operate, and maintains signal quality in complicated pedalboards thanks to its true bypass circuit, which the previous version lacked. The easy-to-read blue LED indicator lets you know when power is running through the pedal, and the modern 9 VDC power supply input makes it very pedalboard friendly.
Redesigned Chassis
The new Gonkulator Ring Modulator has been redesigned with a lighter aluminum chassis for easy transport without sacrificing durability. The finish is a vintage blue paint job with a flat black matte bottom, evoking the looks of the '90s original.
Placement of the DOD Gonkulator
Most guitarists and bassists will favor placing the Gonkulator at the beginning of their chain of effects. Placing the Gonkulator pre- or post-distortion or modulation will yield different,
but interesting results. Experiment and find the placement that best suits your needs and playing style.
