The MK 2S capsule's moderate, high-frequency-response elevation above 4 kHz (at 0°) compensates for high-frequency losses caused by a slightly increased, diffuse field amount when used near the reverberation radius. Its somewhat brighter sound (compared to the MK 2 and MK 2H) makes the MK 2S ideal for A/B stereo, Decca Tree, or as a room microphone, especially in larger rooms.

The Schoeps MK2S is part of the Colette series of modular capsules designed for use with the CMC preamplifiers. The omni-directional polar pattern provides a generous pick up area at the main and off-axis sections of the microphone capsule. The slight rise in high frequency response proves useful in stereo microphone arrays. When used in stereo arrays consisting of two or three microphones, the slight rise in high frequency provides a tonal balance favored by engineers.
This gray Solid Foam Teardrop Popscreen from Schoeps is an acoustic foam close-speech popscreen intended for use with Schoeps Colette Series microphones, but compatible with other microphone capsules as well. It provides sufficient protection at normal speaking distances for cardioids and other directional capsules, especially when speech capsules are used. With omnidirectional capsules, it may even be used outdoors in light wind. This popscreen has minimal effect on sound quality.
