Kase Wolverine Magnetic Variable ND Overview

This 1.5 to 5-stop, 72mm Magnetic Variable ND Filter with Magnetic Adapter from Kase provides an increase in neutral density through a 1.5 to 5-stop range. Increasing neutral density offers finer control in available shutter speeds or aperture settings for both still and video applications. It is fully compatible with Kase Wolverine, Kase Revolution, Kase Skyeye magnetic filters and lens caps.

Front ring is 77mm to prevent vignetting.
Fully compatible with Kase Wolverine, Kase Revolution and Kase Skyeye 77mm magnetic filters and lens caps.
Stack 77mm Kase magnetic filters on top of each other.
Swap filters superfast, up to four Kase Wolverine filters can be stacked.
Tight 20-degree turn radius with hard locks at 1.5 to 5-stop for rapid adjustment.
Precise marking on rim for accurate ND settings.

I have a set of Kase ND filters and they are terrific. But I decided it would be nice to have one variable when I just wanted to be able to adjust the density. Shot with it at sunset--sea stack and water in motion. Every frame discolored with that dreadful X. Tried to return it but B and H wouldn't take it back without the manufacture's packaging. So I can use it as a coaster maybe.

It's decent quality, I think it softens up the image some, but it's not very useful beyond 6 stops as it vignettes pretty hard. Bummer.

Yes, the Kase Wolverine Magnetic Variable ND Filter with Adapter Ring, Gen 2 (82mm, 1.5 to 10-Stop) will fit on a 77-82mm step up ring and allow you to attach the filter magnetically.

The Kase Wolverine Magnetic Variable Neutral Density Filter with Adapter Ring, Gen 2 (82mm, 1.5 to 10-Stops) includes one 82mm magnetic adapter ring that goes on your lens. The adapter ring holds the filter on the lens magnetically. To order more rings, get the Kase Wolverine Magnetic Filter Adapter Ring (82mm), BH #KAMAR82MM.

What is a good lens ca that works with the magnetic mount?

Ideally, a good lens cap for the Kase Wolverine Magnetic Variable Neutral Density Filter with Adapter Ring, Gen 2 (58mm, 1.5 to 5-Stops) would be a "snap-on" cap, like the Sensei 58mm Center Pinch Snap-On Lens Cap (B&H # SELC58). The cap clips to the rim of the filter, similarly to how it would snap on the lens. The Kase 58mm Magnetic Lens Cap (B&H # KAKWMC58) would work as well.
