Capturing four channels of the innovative DL241 Auto Compressor in a compact 1 RU space, the DL441 from Drawmer is a four-channel program adaptive compressor/limiter, which makes it easy for an engineer to precisely control the dynamic range and peak level of signals in an instant without sacrificing crucial adjustment parameters. Ideal for use in broadcast and live sound reinforcement, each channel sports a fully automatic attack and release compressor with a variable threshold Peak Level limiter on the final output, and each channel can be operated independently in mono, or channel linked for dual-stereo operation.
The compressor section can be switched between hard- or soft-knee compression, with each mode implementing a different take on ratio control for various applications, and each section features fully variable manual control for the non-automatic settings. Comprehensive traffic light-style metering, selectable operating level (+4 or -10 dBu), balanced XLR I/O, and hardwired bypass round out the features of this efficient, yet powerful signal processor. The DL441 includes an AC power cable and a globally compatible internal power supply.
A smooth, yet lively recovery from compression minimizes side effects such as pumping and breathing. This feature is particularly valuable when the program being treated does not have predictable or consistent dynamics, such as complete mixes, vocals, or slapped and popped bass guitar.
The Zero Response Time is essential to avoid unpleasant distortion when mastering for CD or sending any signal to digital equipment. Zero Response Time means that the DL441 provides complete protection from even the fastest and shortest signal spikes (overloads), making the unit also ideally suited for speaker system protection in sound reinforcement applications.
