The DS201 has become an industry-standard in noise-gating, and now Drawmer introduces the DS404, a four-channel version of the venerable noise gate with all of the features of the original, including multiple key sources (internal, external, and Key Listen), program adaptive circuitry, and hard or soft gate selection. Ultrafast response times and a stable triggering circuit ensure absolute elimination of pesky chattering around the threshold, and the DS404 performs ideally across a range of sources, from drums and percussion, to vocals, pianos, and complete mixes.
Like the DS201, the DS404 features typical threshold, release, and attenuation controls as well as a chain linking option for control of threshold and envelope characteristics across multiple channels from a single master channel. The onboard high- and low-pass filters allow for frequency-selective gating, letting you gate out unwanted frequencies without cutting out an entire sound. The DS404 includes an AC power cord and a globally compatible internal PSU with user selectable voltage, so you can get to work right away, wherever you are.
In the soft mode the DS404 becomes a versatile expander capable of handling vocals and sub mixes. Drawmer's unique program adaptive circuitry is used to optimize the attack time and ratio as well has having some effect on the manual release setting. A more gentle release characteristic is utilized to complement the soft gate.
