The MC3.1 sports two stereo pairs of XLR-1/4" combo inputs, RCA, and 3.5mm inputs, and talkback I/O (mic in, output, and footswitch) as well as three pairs of XLR 3-pin speaker outputs, a dedicated mono/sub XLR output, and a 1/4" stereo pair cue mix output, designed to be sent to a headphone amplifier for cue mix routing. The MC3.1 supports all the mix checking and control functions expected of a robust monitor controller, such as individual speaker control and switching for A/B comparisons, low-, mid-, and high-frequency soloing, dim, left and right mute, phase reversal, and more. The rugged steel and aluminum chassis can be screwed to a desk, sports a Kensington security slot, and includes an external AC power adapter with automatic voltage switching for global compatibility.
A secondary preset volume control on the front provides repeatable calibrated output level for the monitors, so that at the flick of a switch, the engineer can hear the mix at the same predetermined volume, time after time, without having to meticulously adjust controls. Both the preset volume control and the main Monitor Volume knob utilize paralleled custom quad pots for excellent channel matching and a smooth feel.
