Find coins, jewelry, or artifacts buried as deep as 6" below the surface with this National Geographic JR Metal Detector from Explore Scientific. Simply glide the detector coil back and forth about 3/4" above the ground; when metal is detected, you'll hear a tone and the indicator light on the handle will light up. The louder the tone, the closer the treasure! The LED light on the handle will help you see where you're searching at low-light times, such as early morning and late evening. The detector comes fully assembled but requires user-supplied batteries—one 9V battery for the detector and three AAA batteries for the LED light.
