Proaim Powermatic Scissor Overview

From Manufacturer

The Proaim Powermatic Scissor Pro 17' Telescopic Jib Arm comes with an upgraded speed controller remote system while continuing to support camera rigs and gimbals weighing up to 33 lb at its full 17' extension. The jib arm can extend from 3.3 to 17' up to 1.4"/sec using the motor and control system. The controller box unit is powered by a V-mount battery and connects to the speed remote via the included 6-pin LEMO cable.

Separately available counterbalance weights are required for extension and can be attached to the jib's weight rod. The 70 high-speed steel bearings maintain durability during operation. The arm mounts on a flat base tripod or dolly and features independent pan and tilt locks. An included LCD monitor mount positions your camera monitor for optimal viewing while performing sweeping movements at maximum extension. All the components fit inside the included flight case for storage and transport.

  • Forward and reverse buttons push out or pull in the jib arm
  • Speed dial lets you control the speed intensity of the jib movements
  • Damping adjustment dial facilitates smooth and stabilized movements
  • Direction button locks the direction you want your jib to move in, forward or reverse
  • Included 6-pin LEMO cable connects the controller box with the remote unit

Proaim Powermatic Scissor Reviews

Lower you expectations

Unfortunately this jib fails to meet my expectations. It can never truly be balanced properly, meaning operating it becomes quite difficult. Side to side flex is bad, with the front often fishtailing badly. Tilt lock-off doesn't work due to the terrible balance. Motor is loud, vibrations are present. You can get some good shots with it, but lots of patience and practice is needed.

Pros: quick setup and can fit in an elevator. Cons...

This will not give you dolly moves without some extra mechanical guidance in the rear and some lateral isolation in the front. The tilt lock is too simple and weak and will fail right away under moderate load. The pan lock is much better. The jib is good for slower moves. The arm sways like a sine wave when loaded with a Ronin2 + anything. Avoid quick lateral swings with medium to heavy payloads. A lighter RS3 Pro setup with a vibration isolator has given me better results, far from perfect. I like and use it because I can get the camera just about anywhere with some nice movement, and it can simply retract and be moved around by one person. I have gotten it set up in under 20 minutes. It also fits relatively tight on a van or truck if you don't use the case.

Does Proaim Powermatic Scissor Telescopic Camera Jib Crane with New Remote Controller include the tripod and dolly as well?
Asked by: Philipp
No, the Proaim Powermatic Scissor Pro 17' Telescopic Camera Jib Crane with New Remote Controller does not include a tripod and dolly. Consider adding the Proaim Gravity Heavy-Duty Tripod (Flat Base) and the Proaim Anchor Heavy-Duty Studio Camera Tripod Dolly. See the links below: https://bhpho.to/3y32eF7 https://bhpho.to/3ZqMS9f

What's the best way to attach Tilta Remote Control Handle for Advanced Ring Grip for RS 2 and RS 3 Pro?
Asked by: Philipp
The Tilta Remote Control Handle for Advanced Ring Grip for RS 2 and RS 3 Pro can attach with a standard NATO rail. It should be possible to mount this handle controller with a NATO rail attachment and an appropriate clamp, such as a Manfrotto Super Clamp. https://bhpho.to/3IwFzpB
