Fujinon Techno-Stabi 14x40 TSX Overview

Building off the success of the 14x40 TSN IS binoculars, these upgraded Fujinon TS-X 14x40 Techno-Stabi Image-Stabilized Binoculars have a wider ±6° stabilization range, a buoyant chassis design, and are powered by rechargeable NiMH batteries—significant improvements over the regular model.

With these new X version binoculars, you'll enjoy the high power of 14x magnification without having to use a tripod. See the details of far-off subjects without the distracting hand shake that typically spoils the view of traditional high-power optics, especially useful when glassing from a moving vehicle or when setting sailing across choppy seas.

Fully multicoated optics and reverse-Porro prisms deliver a bright and crisp image with accurate color and vivid contrast, and the wide exit pupil and twist-up eyecups make these binoculars comfortable to use, whether you're wearing glasses or viewing for long periods of time. They will run for up to 18 hours on the four included AA batteries, or for 22 hours with your NiMH rechargeables. They come with a case, a strap, and tethered eyecups.

Optical Performance
  • Two-axis ±6° image stabilization keeps views steady against natural hand shake, vibration from moving vehicles, and pitching seas
  • Powerful 14x magnification is ideal for nature watching, birding, sporting events, concerts, and wide-field astronomical use
  • 40mm objective lenses provide the light-gathering capability required to keep views bright and clear in all conditions
  • Reverse Porro prism light path produces a more compact housing versus traditional Porro designs
  • 4-element objective lens system and 6-element eyepiece lens system correct chromatic aberration to produce accurate colors with reduced fringing and halos with edge-to-edge sharpness
  • Antireflection fully multicoated lenses maximize light transmission to keep views bright and clear with accurate color representation
  • 210' field of view at 1000 yards
Use and Handling
  • Two push-button interface turns the system on and engages/disengages the IS system
  • Auto-off function to conserve battery life
  • Low-profile, slip-resistant knob is ergonomically placed to be easy to find with your right forefinger
  • Twist-up eyecups for comfortable use with or without eyewear
  • ±2 right eye dioptric correction for tack-sharp focusing even without perfect eyesight
  • 48mm front lens threads allow the use of filters, such as polarizing or ND, to improve the views in snowy conditions or when using on or near water on bright and sunny days
  • 60-70mm interpupillary adjustment range accommodates users of all sizes
  • 13mm eye relief
  • Comfortable 2.9mm exit pupil completely covers pupils in most light conditions
Construction Details
  • Buoyant floating design allows you to retrieve them if they fall overboard

I purchased the Fujinon 14x40 stabilized to replace some older Cannon's. I've never had stabilized binoculars before, and I was amazed clarity, and no wobble at all. Expensive, yes. Worth it, for me, yes. Close up and far away just dial them in and you will be as pleased as I was.

Does the objective accept a threaded filter (clear/polarized) for protection?
Asked by: Ishwar
Yes and no. As they come, these binoculars use non-standard 48mm filters. However, If you buy two 48mm to 49mm step up filter converters, you can now use the very common 49mm camera lens filters. This is exactly what I did. I used two of the B&H part number BH #SESUR4849 "Sensei 48-49mm Aluminum Step-Up Ring." I then used two Hoya 49mm UV filters as protection filters. Then I added two inexpensive 49mm snap on lens covers to protect the filters. I now have complete protection for the binoculars and the filters. -Steve
