Compact and Lightweight
The Cine V-AF series increases compatibility with gimbals and drones by offering a unified form factor for its five different focal lengths (ultra-wide to medium-tele). By providing a compact, lightweight form with a unified center of gravity, the need to reset the balance and supporting equipment after a lens change is eliminated.
Autofocus Cine Lens
  • This series' autofocus ability will prove especially handy for single operators and drone and gimbal capture. Each lens in the series features the "Focus Save" function typically found in professional cine equipment and a custom mode that adds function by firmware, providing video-specific functions.
  • Easily switch to manual focus by sliding a button.
  • Get a manual focus index using the separately available Manual Focus Adapter accessory.
8K Support
The new Cine V-AF series supports resolutions up to 8K in a small and lightweight form, which is well suited for use with handheld gimbals and drones, as well as for studios and location productions.
Color Matching
All lenses within the new Cine V-AF series are color-matched to avoid shifts when swapping lenses, and the nine aperture blades allow for a natural-looking bokeh.
Tally Lamps
The lamps located on the lens front and on the mount index help the user check whether a video is recorded or not while shooting. This tally feature conveniently supports your video content creation even when shooting in a small space without a lot of equipment.

auto focus in too slow and and keep hunting for subject even at 2.8 , focus breathing . i bought it for my gimbal lens, but it became a handheld lens used only with spot focus. its not a relaible af lens. though i love the image quality, thats why i didn't returned it. i want to love this lens, but its not for video , its an old samyang lens in new body

Two of the biggest drawbacks of this series of lenses are that they have slow autofocus and that they have a weird tally light on the front of the lens (and the side, but that one doesn't confront me as much). This tally light can be helpful with professional talent, but with documentary style shooting, it can be an extra intimidating factor. It also reflects badly on glass or even lightly colored objects (like paper or food labels). Fortunately, both problems can be easily addressed with the inexpensive Samyang Lens Station accessory. Beyond firmware updates for these lenses, which appear to be coming pretty often from Samyang right now, the Lens Station also allows for adjustments to focus speed and the ability to turn off the tally lights. Optically, the V-AF lenses do match well in terms of color and performance. They get very sharp around f/4, although I do note a bit of vignetting fully open. They render stuff really nicely with pleasing out of focus areas. But the real selling point is that these lenses are all the exact same size, weight and T-stop. They make gimbal work a lot easier! And being very small and light, they travel like champs. I already own the 75mm and 24mm versions. I will be happily purchasing the 45mm and 20mm as soon as they are available. So, just make sure you have the Lens Station to provide the proper adjustments and updates that these lenses really need.
