I replaced an aging pair of Play:1s which were mounted in my gym on a cinder block wall using the Sonos-branded wall mounts intended for that product. The Era 100 wall mount is designed using a similar principle; a sturdy metal clip with protruding tabs is screwed into the mounting surface, and the mount with speakers attached slides down over the tabs, flush with the mounting surface. A very nice, clean look, if done properly. Unfortunately, the designers of this new product failed to consider that some folks might be replacing older Sonos components in the same locations, and the holes in the new metal clip do not match the old Sonos wall mount. The installer is faced with a choice of making new holes in the surface and mounting in a slightly different location (and don't forget cleaning up the old holes), or drilling out additional holes in the mounting clip. 30 seconds of additional thought and design work would have made the difference here, and that is the difference between a product that is truly premium, and one that is just 'meh.'
