Sennheiser EW-DP SKP Reviews

Finally cut the cable on my boom setup — and I'm not going back

Running a corporate livestreaming operation means audio has to work, every time, no excuses. I've been using the EW-DP SKP plugged into a shotgun mic on a boom pole, feeding directly to a wireless receiver mounted on the camera — and honestly the setup couldn't be cleaner. What sold me was the flexibility. No cable runs from the boom to the camera, no tripping hazard across the stage, no fumbling with connectors during load-in. The digital link is rock solid and the plug-on form factor means I can swap mics without rewiring anything. It just... works. Setup was genuinely painless, which matters when you're moving fast on a corporate event. If you're doing ENG-style run-and-gun or live event work and you're still tethered with an XLR snake from your boom to your mixer — do yourself a favor and try this system. The freedom of movement alone is worth it.

Great budget option for ENG style shooting

Very performant unit for this price point. Onboard recording is a huge plus. Remote controllability is nice. The biggest problem here is the build quality. The battery door on my unit does not like to latch closed very easily, and the whole thing is plastic-y.

In terms of audio quality for streaming (using a Rode Caster Pro II), is it better to use SKP 500 G4 or EW-DP SKP?
Asked by: Oscar
The Sennheiser EW-DP SKP Digital Plug-On Wireless Transmitter/Recorder and the Sennheiser SKP 500 G4 Pro Wireless Plug-On Transmitter both require their compatible wireless receiver, as well as a microphone, in order to function. Both systems will provide high quality audio when used with the RODE RODECaster Pro II Integrated Audio Production Studio. One system would not necessarily be better than the other.
