Autocue Pioneer Prompting Software Reviews
A BUG IN THE SYSTEM
A BUG IN THE SYSTEM!!! That's exactly what our CEO (A Fortune 500 Company BTW) said to the viewing public live when the prompter software, Autocue Pioneer crashed during our live stream to the entire company. Yes, it was the software that crashed, not the CPU. There is soooo much that I could say. So let's say it: 1. You have to wait for a physical card w/ a scratch off to get a license. Really annoying that I could not just sign up online after the demo. Waited 10 days for the license. 2. There are NO SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS for Pioneer. They simply have one set of instructions on their website for both software packages that they offer. 3. One of the, Features is the promised that you could place PPT slides in the software. I did not see how to do this, reached out to Autocue w/ no reply. I tried importing a .pptx file and it said it worked, but that was it. Didn't see the slides. 4. Control is terrible. Very touchy. I bought the shuttle for it and it was useless. The first setting was wayyyyyy to fast. We used a mouse and it was a bit better, but could not keep up with the operator's clicks or adjustments in real time, which is when it crashed. 5. VERY cumbersome to use. We would import a script and it makes sluglines where we do not want them. Makes stories where we don't want them. Stories/sluglines, which is it? The instructions do not tell you the difference. Why, because there are no particular instructions for Pioneer. 6. Editor is terrible. You cannot change the line spacing and increasing, decreasing font size is cumbersome as well. Locks into 4:3 which is not good when you are running on a 55 screen. Submitted back for a refund. BTW, I found MUCH better software in the app store in MacOS. Yes, my prompter will now only run on a Mac from now on due to this experience.
