Glyph Technologies RAID PRO Overview

Streamline storage and workflows with the Blackbox PRO RAID 24TB 2-Bay Thunderbolt 3 RAID Array with Hub from Glyph Technologies. Boasting two drive bays populated with one 12TB hard drive each, this RAID array provides a capacity of 24TB. Preconfigured as hardware-controlled RAID 0, this array may also be configured as RAID 1, JBOD, and SPAN, with speeds up to 550 MB/s thanks to dual Thunderbolt 3 interfaces and daisy chain support.

Connect to a monitor via a DisplayPort interface and use the integrated hub to connect to wired peripherals via a USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 port. Additionally, the hub sports dedicated CFast 2.0 and UHS-II SDXC card reader slots for downloading content from compatible memory cards. A quiet cooling fan helps keep temperatures low, along with an aluminum construction that encourages passive cooling. Compatible with macOS and Time Machine ready right out of the box, this RAID array is also compatible with Windows after a reformat.

Please note that storage capacity depends on the RAID mode used.

Connect More with Thunderbolt 3
Dual Thunderbolt 3 ports allow you to daisy-chain up to five additional devices through a single cable to your computer.
Enterprise-Grade Hard Drives
This array comes preinstalled with two 12TB 7200 rpm Enterprise-class hard drives for a total storage capacity of 24TB. Supporting speeds up to 550 MB/s, the Blackbox PRO RAID is built for demanding workflows and mission-critical projects.
Hardware RAID
Blackbox PRO RAID supports hardware RAID 0, 1, JBOD, and SPAN, giving you the flexibility to choose RAID 0 for speed or RAID 1 for redundancy. Set it and forget it without needing to deal with finicky and slow software-based RAID.
Hub with Card Readers
Streamline your workflow with onboard CFast 2.0 and SD UHS-II card readers. Use the USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 port to connect fast SSD storage or charge peripherals.
Built-In DisplayPort
Connect a 4K monitor directly to your Blackbox PRO RAID Thunderbolt 3 and streamline your desk setup.
Formatted for macOS and Time Machine Ready
Blackbox PRO RAID is formatted for macOS computers and is Time Machine compatible right out of the box. Plus, it can be easily reformatted for use with Windows.
Stay Cool Under Pressure
Don't be afraid to put the Blackbox PRO RAID to work. The rugged aluminum shell acts as a heatsink, keeping the internal hard drive at its optimal temperature to deliver higher sustained speeds.
Comprehensive Warranty
Get peace of mind with a 3-year limited warranty with full hardware coverage, including the cables, as well as 2-year level 1 data recovery and one year of advanced replacement.

Glyph Technologies RAID PRO Reviews

Not a good value for the money

I bought three 40TB drives in December 2025. One drive works as my main storage for photos and videos attached to my Macbook Pro and the other two are backups. One drive made lot of noise right out of the box and the other two were quiet. I should have sent the one drive back but I did not as I use it for a backup. As of February 2026, one of the drives will no longer boot up. Not a good value for the money. I wish HP still made the G-Raid drives. I have several that are 15 plus years old and still work, no issues.

will this work with RAID 5 for video editing?

will this work with RAID 5 for video editing?
Asked by: Matt
A RAID 5 setup requires at least 3 disks. The Glyph Technologies 40TB Blackbox PRO RAID Desktop Drive (2 x 20TB, Thunderbolt 3), B&H # GLBBPR40RDT3, has 2 disks. You can still use it for video editing, but it can only work in RAID 0, 1, JBOD, and SPAN modes. If you are looking for a RAID 5 array, I would recommend looking into the Oyen Digital Fortis 5C 50TB 5-Bay External Drive Array with SoftRAID 8 Premium Kit, B&H # OY5FU3C50TV8, which does support RAID 5.
