Sony MDR-MV1 Reviews

MV1 and BTR15, nice combo

These headphones are great. Open back does give more expansive sensation. Also, comfortable as these are light. Had to purchase a balanced cable to get dual amp drive. Need to ensure it has sony custom threaded 3.5mm TRRS phone side connector .. Geekria 4 strand/5' MV1 compatible for $41. Wished it came with a case and balanced cable though. The BTR15 works really well and the user interface is efficient, but mobile app required for accessing all features , ie, EQ. Its fine but a bit slow. Probably bluetooth coms is slow.

3 months after purchase.

I try to research a product as much as I can so before I buy it so I know if there is something better or a better value. To my surprise there was very little written about these headphones. I went out on a limb trusting RTING’s review and I am glad I did. Extremely light but not cheap feeling. Super comfy for long sessions. The ear pads are very nice foam and the fabric feels great and not too warm.  They sound great but the higher frequencies (Claps and S’s, T’s and C’s) can be a bit sharp at higher volume (It might be very rare you will be able to handle this volume for long) but a little EQ to the 8khz range fixes this. Also, the imaging or special awareness you get are amazing. I can hear the tiniest details and exactly where they came from. I would get these again but also look into the Sennheiser 600 or 650. Apparently, they are very similar but I prefer to have a cable only to one ear cup and not both. The biggest con I have is that there are no replaceable ear pads available at a good price. I can’t find anything for these but if you take good care of them, they will last a good time. I did manage to find the part number for the original ear pads and the cable from Sony’s part distributor: Cable: 100178521 Ear pads: 504827901

What's a good soft case or hard case for the new Sony MDR-MV1 headphones?

The Sony MDR-MV1 Reference Monitor Headphones can be used with a case like the SLAPPA HardBody Pro Full-Sized Headphone Case (B&H # SLHP99), the Magma Bags MGA41460 Headphone Case (B&H # MAMGA41460), or the Dekoni Audio Headphone Savior V2 Universal Carrying Case (B&H # DEHPSAVCHV2).

I know it says the earpads are "suede", but checking if that's real suede or synthetic? Thanks
Asked by: Douglas
The earpads on the Sony MDR-MV1 Open-Back Reference Monitor Headphones are made of a soft, synthetic suede-like material, not genuine suede leather.
