ASUS MB249C Reviews
Good concept with a stand flaw that needs to be resolved
I purchased from B&H a month ago. The general design is something I have been waiting for: A ready to go portable monitor solution with both a kick stand and clamp on stand. The clamp on stand works very well and is a great design overall, but it has a major flaw: The threaded portion of the clamping mechanism goes through a cheap steel angle bracket and stripped out after only two uses. The clamp will no longer tighten and I can actually pull the threaded section through the steel hole. I am working with ASUS for a replacement, but I expect a replacement to develop the same problem. There should be a good quality steel nut welded into the bracket to received the threads, not just tapping low quality metal. On the positive side, the angle bracket is attached with screws and can be replaced. Assuming ASUS sends me the same part, I am going to see if I can rebuild the old one with a proper nut that will hold up. I think they are going to need to change the design and have better replacements at the ready to send out.
BEST INVESTMENT EVER
I've been working from home since 2019, and let me tell you, I wish this was something that existed cause it would've saved me a lot of trouble working on a 13-inch laptop, having an extra screen allows me to work downstairs since there's a USB-C port, it works really well with my Lenovo ThinkPad. It also has different ways you can use the screen, on a wall, on the extended pole, or just leaning it back. I sometimes work on my kitchen table and I am able to stand up and work here and there. It's AMAZING. GET IT.
