Zacuto MICRO BOOM Reviews
Inaccurate Product Description

The product description is inaccurate. It says Cold Shoe & NATO Rail Mounting, as if both of these options come stock with the product. This is, in fact, not the case. The boom pole only comes with a NATO mount. To mount it cold shoe you need to buy an additional adaptor. I was super confused by this and kept thinking I had missed something in the box, but according to Zacuto's website it is Camera mounted via NATO Rail or optional CUBE- NATO to coldshoe adapter. Hopefully the product description can be updated here to avoid such confusion for others. The boom pole seems solid otherwise, but now I gotta wait for an adaptor to actually use it with my setup.

Does it come with a shock mount ? How does the microphone attach
The Zacuto MICRO Boompole (BH # ZAMICROBOOM) does not include a shock mount. A shock mount appropriate for the chosen microphone would be an optional purchase..

The m/f cable ends look the wrong way for most shotgun microphones.. am I seeing that correctly ?
Itâs the wrong way for most DSLRâs, which is what this microphone is designed for. The least they could do is add adapters to this kit.

is the cable reversible for microphones with a male end and not a female end? Could you use a Rode Videomic Pro?
Reversing the cable for the Zacuto MICRO Boompole might not be easy, but there is a simple solution. For a mic that already has an attached cable with a 3.5mm TRS connector, you can use an adapter like the Tera Grand 1/8" Stereo Female to 1/8" Stereo Female Adapter (B&H # TEA35F35F) to connect the mic's cable to the internal cable on the MICRO Boompole.

what would be a good case for this and a Rode videomicro II?
The Odyssey Vulcan Injection-Molded Utility Case (16 x 3.75 x 1.75" Interior) (BH #ODVU150302NF) would be an excellent case for the Zacuto MICRO Boompole and RODE VideoMicro II Ultracompact Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone for Cameras and Smartphones.
