This powerful virtual instrument exactingly reproduces the aggressively analog sound engine from the original with a versatile voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) sporting 3 waveform choices along with a sub-oscillator for extra bottom end. Sculpt the sounds with the voltage-controlled amplifier (VCA) and voltage-controlled filter (VCF) from the convenience of your laptop. The Mercury-4 also expands the polyphony of the original 1978 4-voice model to a full 16 voices and adds velocity sensitivity and unlimited patch storage, including over 400 presets. An Ensemble stereo chours effect and a faithful recreation of the legendary Roland Tape Echo complete the package.
- Originally released in 1978, the Roland Jupiter-4 synthesizer was one of the earliest instruments to combine voice-assign polyphony with digital patch storage—that is, the ability to store and recall sounds to a digital memory and recall them at the touch of a button.
- The Jupiter-4 rapidly became the go-to polysynth for numerous English and European acts in the '80s including Duran Duran, Thomas Dolby, The Human League, Simple Minds, and more, and for good reason: the Jupiter-4 sounded fantastic, with a raw, raunchy tone not found in any of the other beloved Juno and Jupiter synths.
- Its analog oscillators have a uniquely aggressive tone quality; the built-in sub oscillator adds girth; its oddly fast and deep LFO modulation capabilities allow it to create uniquely whacked-out modular-synth-like tones; and Roland's famous stereo chorus Ensemble circuit is beautifully implemented, adding a boatload of width and dimension.
- Mercury-4 lovingly recreates Jupiter-4's bold and unusual analog oscillators, powerful dual filters, and easily overdrivable VCA section. Cherry Audio went to great lengths to replicate the unique arpeggiator section—heard on tons of classic new wave tracks—as well as the original's two massive unison modes.
- A Drift knob allows you to dial in just the right amount of vintage character. The renowned stereo BBD ensemble effect has been beautifully modeled, and they've also added a truly otherworldly Space-Echo-style tape echo with multiple reverb modes. The tape echo exactingly recreates the warm tonality and subtle speed variations that make the original Space Echo units so desirable.

The Cherry Audio Elka-X painstakingly recreates the distinctive sound of the Synthex synthesizer, originally made by Italian manufacturer ELKA in the early '80s and championed by discerning musicians including Stevie Wonder and Geoff Downs (of Yes). This modern emulation makes the sound of this rare instrument available for today's workflows at a fraction of the price that the original sells for and can be used as a plug-in within your DAW or played as a standalone instrument on your Mac or Windows computer. Cherry Audio has exactingly replicated the original multimode filter and chorus effect that gave the Synthex such a distinctive flavor while expanding the polyphony from 8 voices to 16 a long and adding a wealth of additional features for demanding musicians, creators, and sound designers looking to integrate these uniquely vintage synth tones into their productions.
- Unlike most other popular synths utilizing CEM3320 filter chips in a low-pass-only configuration, the original ELKA Synthex filter featured a 24 dB/oct low-pass mode, 6 and 12 dB/oct band-pass modes, and a 12 dB/oct high-pass mode.
- Along with a powerful onboard analog chorus effect, this gave the Synthex a distinct and powerful tonality. It was multitimbral, with the ability to play two separate patches simultaneously, and playable in either split or layer mode. It even included an innovative four-track sequencer with real-time recording and transposition.
- Each aspect of Elka-X has been precisely modeled upon Cherry Audio's pristine vintage Synthex. Extensive efforts were taken to emulate the prized tone of the original's DCOs, dynamic filter, and stunning chorus. The innovative sound-sculpting and performance features such as layering and keyboard split have been preserved, while the original's clunky step sequencer has been greatly improved.
- Cherry Audio has kept the soul of the classic instrument alive while updating its feature set for modern studio environments. They've increased the polyphony, included mono and unison modes, and added velocity response that was absent from the original design. They've expanded the functionality of the filter and the LFOs, greatly extending the modulation options. Featuring an innovative sound engine with 4 sine-wave oscillators and 3 different types of synthesis, the Cherry Audio Sines is a powerful virtual synthesizer for Mac or Windows computers and can run as a standalone instrument or as a plug-in within your DAW. Sines uses diverse waveshaping methods to transform these basic waveforms into infinitely variable musical sounds and rich electronic textures for musicians, producers, and sound designers. The instrument offers up to 16 voices of polyphony and supports MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE) for a more nuanced playing experience.
- The Sines interface provides immediate hands-on access to all sound parameters. It comes alive with illuminated indicators, color, and mini oscilloscopes providing instant visual feedback. The primary sound design controls are grouped horizontally in bands emphasizing its four of everything nature: four LFOs, four oscillators, and four envelope generators. At the core of each section are the unique sine-wave oscillator waveshaping controls: feedback, phase, width, shape, wavefold, and drive, along with a sub (octave-down) oscillator and a super (octave-up) oscillator. Phase modulation and ratio dials allow the oscillators to be configured in a modulator/carrier arrangement for four-op DX/FM-style synthesis.
- But these dangerous curves are just the beginning. Sines features Cherry Audio's most extensive multimode filter to date, four LFOs with 14 waveshapes, four envelope generators, an arpeggio, a best-of selection of Cherry Audio's finest acclaimed effects, a drift function, and an integrated eight-band graphic EQ. Many controls include an adjacent mod-source button, and an outrageously comprehensive four-slot mod matrix provides considerable modulation options for nearly every Sines parameter.
- Mastering Sines may seem like rocket science, but its easy to get started with over 700 presets, both practical and cutting-edge, as well as a comprehensive user guide that's fun to read. Moreover, the aural and visual immediacy of Sines encourages experimentation and provides a deeper understanding of how the elements interact. In little time, users can design individualized sounds ranging from glorious evolving pads, bright FM plucks, distinctive leads, crisp percussive tones, and much more.
- Sines lends itself well to three more direct approaches to sound design: standard subtractive synthesis, where sine waves are waveshaped into other familiar waveforms, then processed through an analog-style filter. Alternately, an additive synthesis approach stacks sine waves at different pitches and amplitudes, like a supercharged Hammond tonewheel organ. Finally, oscillators can modulate each other in multiple configurations, mimicking the classic DX-style FM carrier and modulator architecture with much less effort than original '80s instruments.
- To get users up and running, Cherry Audio and Tim Shoebridge have again teamed up to create an introductory video to walk users through the outstanding features and sound design strategies of Sines.
- Last but not least, Sines boasts all of the exceptional touches Cherry Audio is known for, including polyphonic aftertouch, MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE), flexible MIDI mapping, and its industry-leading preset browser. Also included are Cherry Audio's studio-quality effects such as distortion, chorus, phaser, delay, and reverb, all fully modulatable through the mod matrix.

Intensely circuit-modeled by award-winning developer Mark Barton, the GX-80 carefully replicates the distinctive analog oscillators and filters from the original instruments while expanding their capabilities with studio-quality effects and expressive touch-response settings.
With its massive dual-layer architecture, the GX-80 is capable of playing two different CS-80 sounds simultaneously in split or layered modes, each with 16 voices of polyphony. The sound engine features 4 polyphonic voice ranks, each with a VCO, resonant filters, dual EGs, a velocity-sensitive VCA, and panning controls. An LFO for each layer offers extensive modulation possibilities and can be tempo-synced to your DAW. Over 1000 preset sounds in a wide variety of genres are onboard to get you started. The GX-80 is optimized for an ultralow CPU load and can be used as a plug-in within your DAW or as a standalone instrument.
- A best-in-class virtual instrument based on two monumental analog classics: the GX-1 and CS-80
- Integrates the extended features of the GX-1 with all of the functionality of its descendant, the CS-80, for an absolutely immense sound experience; essentially, two CS-80s and more
- Massive dual-layer voicing architecture with 16 polyphonic voices per layer: two different CS-80-style sounds simultaneously playable in either a keyboard split or stacked layer mode with discrete controls for layer volume and panning
- All GX-1 and CS-80 voicing parameters reproduced, including the GX-1's unique oscillator-level filtered waveforms, octave-up triangle wave, and invert filter envelope control
- Precision recreation of both the legendary CS-80 and unmatched GX-1 filters
- Four polyphonic voice ranks, each with a voltage-controlled oscillator, resonant high-pass and low-pass filters, noise generator, sinewave, dual envelope generators, and a velocity-sensitive VCA
- Sub oscillator LFO for each layer with sine, sawtooth, ramp, square, sample and hold, and noise intended for modulation, with tempo sync
- Recreation of the memorable CS ring modulator that modulates the summed output of each pair of ranks with its own independent oscillator
- Coarse pitch range setting for each oscillator in traditional organ footage of 16', 8', 5 1/3', 4', 2 2/3' and 2', as well as the 3 1/5' and 2 2/7' footages exclusive to the GX-1
