Samyang AF 75mm f/1.8 for FUJIFILM X Reviews

Under appreciated

As my caption says,I believe the Samyang 75mm f1.8 is under appreciated, living in the shadow of it's Viltrox competitor. Yes,it's plastic, but so are Tamron and Sigma lenses. However that fact haven't stopped them from getting rave reviews or enjoying brisk sales. The Samyang 75 is a perfect match for my current daily driver, the Fuji X-S10,and as others have pointed out, the Viltrox is probably better suited for X-H and X-T series. I'm extremely happy with the sharpness and colors from the Samyang. I had to downsize the attached photo, but I hope it gives you an idea of the results you may get. It was shot wide open at f1.8. As one reviewer stated, focus can be a little quirky, but not so quirky as to reconsider my purchase. In fact it might be as much a Fuji thing as anything, as Fuji's auto focus somewhat lags behind other systems. Getting great results at a very inexpensive price is a win-win in my book. Just as good is getting it through B&H and the company's excellent service makes it a win-win-win. If you're at all interested in this particular focal length, I urge you to give the Samyang serious consideration, and give serious consideration to buying through B&H. Will I buy more Samyang Rokinon lenses? Yes!! Will I continue being a long time, satisfied customer of B&H? You betcha!

Light & Compact

Con: No image stabilization, (not a big deal for a small lens). Pro: Light & Compact (compared to Viltox 75mm F1.2). Linear AF and weather seal. Fast auto focus and good image quality. Note: Switch-1 for Manual Focus. Switch-2 for Aperture control.. but only works on Video Mode. I hope Samyang will have a Firmware update to correct Switch-2 to work on Both Photography & Video.

Am I able to set the aperture manually?

Am I able to set the aperture manually?
Asked by: Joseph
Yes, apertures can be adjusted via camera body but the lens does not offer any hard stop apertures.
