Oben CQL-13 Compact Carbon Fiber Tripod Overview

Ready for Photographers on the Go
The CQL-13 Compact Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod with Ball Head from Oben is designed for shooters on the go. The tripod and ball head fully extend to a maximum height of 51.1", and the 8x carbon fiber construction delivers a load capacity of 13 lb for solidly supporting most heavy camera and telephoto lens setups.
Each five-section leg can be positioned independently at three locking angles to ensure stable support when shooting on uneven terrain. The legs feature internal twist locks that allow it to slide in and out of the carry bag without snagging or catching. It sets up and breaks down in seconds and easily fits in light cases or backpacks. A reversible center column and a separate short center column allow camera positioning close to the ground and provide several options for low-angle shooting.

The 2-way panoramic ball head features solid aluminum construction and simple operation and boasts independent ball head and panoramic base adjustments. It has a 90° notch for instantly switching from portrait to landscape orientation. An Arca-type quick release set allows for mounting and dismounting the camera quickly and effortlessly.

Lightweight Carbon Fiber Construction
8x carbon fiber construction gives the CQL-13 the strength to support loads up to 13 lb, enough capacity to support a camera and a large telephoto lens.
Compact Folded Size
This tripod folds down to a compact 14.5", and weighs only 1.5 lb. It's perfect for travel and won't weigh down your gear bag. It's even small enough to carry in a backpack. The Y-shaped center column gives the CQL-13 a more compact diameter than a standard tripod when folded.
5-Section Twist-Lock legs
The 5-section telescoping legs are secured by internal twist locks. The five sections can be unlocked at once with one twist to the end of each leg, making opening and setting up quick and easy. A small turn unlocks each section to individually adjust each leg's height. Internal twist locks provide a more compact design, and the tripod won't snag or catch on the other gear in your gear bag.
Three Locking Angles
The legs offer independent leg spread, and lock at three different angles for support on uneven terrain or at low angles. Set the legs at 21-, 52-, or 82° to ensure the camera's stability.
Reversible Center Column with Ballast Hook
With the center column fully extended, this compact tripod can reach a height of 51.1". Reversing the center column makes it possible to practically place your camera on the ground for macro and nature shots. A spring-loaded ballast hook lets you add some weight, like a sandbag, to secure the tripod in windy conditions or on uneven terrain.
Short Center Column
For dramatic low-angle shots, the included short center column can be used to position a camera as low as 5" off the ground.
Double-Action Ball Head with Arca-Type Quick-Release
The ball head features independent tilt and panoramic locks and a 90° notch for effortless switching from landscape to portrait orientation. A bubble level assures accurate camera alignment with the horizon. The ball head includes an Arca-type quick-release set for easily mounting and dismounting a camera.

Oben CQL-13 Compact Carbon Fiber Tripod Reviews

A great set of compromises - high value for backpacking

I recently finished a 34 day wilderness backpacking trip on the Pacific Crest Trail with this tripod, which I used 5-10 times daily, strapped to the outside of my pack. I did not abuse the tripod, nor did I baby it, and it has held up well. I was shooting with a Fujifilm X100 VI, a relatively lightweight camera. This camera features a flip-down screen which I enjoy using, and you'll need to since a stable configuration for the tripod on uneven trail often ends up with the camera at waist level. With practice the legs open and close rapidly, and I also developed the set of sub-skills to adjust the head quickly. One segment of one leg may be getting a bit sticky, but the whole thing continues to function. Without warning I lost the hanging hook somewhere on trail, which I was totally unaware was unscrewing. Fortunately I was not dealing with high winds ever, so this was no great loss, but is annoying. This is lighter than my other, arguably superior travel carbon fiber tripods, which is why I bought it and brought it. It held up well to fairly intensive use and continues to function. And the price was very reasonable for what you get. Would I have liked something that extended higher? Sure. But not a cost of weight.

Lightweight sturdy tripod

This tripod is lightweight and very sturdy. The leg mechanism is very intuitive, and is easy to have endless customized leg arrangements. Looking forward to my firs trip with it.
