Shure SM63 Reviews

Much light and slicker than other popular mic RE50. Handling noise is minimal. Clarity is good, bass is a little less. Standard mic with solid built quality last long years.
Not what I expected

I don't have much experience buying microphones, but my research indicated that this is a good mic from Shure, one of the leaders in the market. The SM63 looks great, is well made and handles well, but it's noisy. I'm running this into a Lectrosonics wireless setup to do roving interviews, and it's just noisy. To make sure it isn't the rest of the setup, I tried an old Azden (granted, a more expensive mic) and it sounded great. So the Sure has been relegated to backup status.

question
what kind of receiver is needed/advised? Is a separate transmitter needed?
The SM63 is just a microphone, not a wireless unit. However it can be used with an external transmitter and receiver. We bought it to use with a parabolic reflector for wild sound at sports events because it is one of the lightest-weight mics out there. We use a short XLR jumper to a Sennheiser Evolution transmitter which sends to a receiver in our remote truck.
