Although This Is A Very Expensive Lens Hood, I Can Recommend It For Two Reasons. First Of All, It Allows You To Put A Filter On The Leica Q3 43 And Still Be Able To Use The Macro Function, Which This Square Lens Hood That Comes On The Camera Does Not. The Second And The Reason For The Title Of The Review Is That This Is The Second Round Lens Hood I Have Purchased. The First One Met Its Demise And Served Its Purpose Well By Partially Collapsing And Distorting When I Accidentally Dropped The Camera From Waist Height Onto Pavement. The Lens, Filter And Camera Body Were Completely Undamaged By The Fall Thanks To The Construction And Design Of The Lens Hood.

Is the photo of the product accurate? The way it is threaded looks like it attaches to the lens just like supplied square hood.
The photo is accurate. The hood does not screw onto the 49mm filter thread, but it attaches the same way supplied rectangular lens hood screws onto the outer thread of the fixed lens of Q,Q2, and Q3. thus it will not fit *any* lens with a 49mm filter thread.

Does this hood attach to Q series lens like the supplied hood or does it screw onto the 49mm filter thread?
The hood does not screw onto the 49mm filter thread, but it attaches the same way supplied rectangular lens hood screws onto the outer thread of the fixed lens of Q,Q2, and Q3.
There is no 49mm thread on this lens hood, but it does facilitate use of polarizing and variable neutral density filters by allowing to reach into the hood.

Does this lens hood offer easier manipulation of a circular polarizer compared to the regular square lens hood?
Yes. When using the Leica Round Lens Hood Q and a polarizer, you would attach the polarizer to the lens first and the hood attaches to the front of the polarizer. Then when you rotate the hood, you can change the polarization.
