Great camera. Wrongly maligned by reviewers who just do not get what this camera is, and who it is intended for. Think about how a camera works: You adjust aperture, shutter speed, and ISO to obtain a proper exposure. You can do this manually or you can selectively automate one or more of these functions. Occasionally you need to adjust overall exposure and flash output levels. Sometimes you want a burst of several shots at once. Sometimes you use auxiliary flash strobes to add a little more light. You want to select one more focus and exposure points, among several choices. Yep - this camera does it all, and pretty much every camera does all of this - plus more, but think whether you really need all those other features the camera manufacturers push as essential these days - they are rarely used and really do not affect the basic functions setting aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. This camera provides "enough" flexibility - in these basic functions, as well as burst shooting, flash manipulation, and so forth. This camera does as much as nearly all high cost "professional" cameras sold in the near to distant past, and a lot of guys built their business on those older "pro" grade cameras - so what's not to like? This camera works, well, and easily and just makes sense. I own multiple "pro" level full frame and APS-C bodies that cost far more than this little gem, and this keeps up admirably. After all, it does pretty much everything older, pro level cameras do - I do not always want or need all the newer, extra high-tech features to capture good images. Those features sound cool, but I rarely need them. I am a semi-pro, advanced consumer hobbyist who often shoots for commercial clients - more of a retirement avocation than a daily business, but I do make money on commercial shoots - and this little gem has performed well - because it does what all cameras do, just not all the frilly techno extra features touted as necessary on other cameras. Just enough to do the job - it fills its role as an entry level camera for general, and occasional commercial, projects. Very pleased with this basic bargain camera. Ask yourself if you REALLY need all those other fancy features before you finalize your purchase decision. I am pleased to add this to my larger arsenal of camera bodies. Of course, this is just MY take - your mileage may vary. TT

My clients constantly tell me how incredible the photos are that I take using the Canon R100 camera. So many complements that I bought a 2nd one for other events. I have taken thousands of images without any issues. For the price it is a great deal for a reliable camera w great shots and easy to use equipment.
