It does not open wide enough to release my many other Arca plates vertically, so you have to slide it out. I solved the problem by machining away part of the quick release jaws. Too bad the release knob screw is not longer.
The biggest thing going for this clamp is the fact that the knob doesn't interfere with either the mounting surface or whatever Arca kajigger you clamp to. In other words, if you like to rely on Arca rails over rod clamps, this is about as cheap, durable, and adaptable as it gets.
